| Christmas is coming........... | | Are your kids asking for gifts already? What are they asking for?My 3 year old has already been asking for gifts for about 3 months now. EVERYTHING she see's on TV, she wants. She collects My Little Pony toys. We actually found online coupons for them on Mypoints, $5 off of a $20 purchase so when we have the extra money we use a coupon and get some. We have about 6 of them held back for Christmas for her. Not counting the one's we have hidden, she needs 10 more to finish the collection. There are 6 in particular that she is collecting. They have 3 different sizes or stages of growth for each one. They also have one's with different accessories of the same one's. Of course, she has to have ALL of them. My kids usually are NOT spoiled in any sense of the word but with this particular collection, she is. My stepson, who is 8 years old isn't really into anything these days except drawing and Spiderman but he has started a collection of Bionicle's figures. I think we're going to try to get him atleast the same amount of them as we have of Ponies that we got for our 3 year old. | | Does Anyone Else Out There Suffer From Extreamly Sensitive Hearing? | | I am legally blind, and as a result of this, I have extremely super-sensitive hearing. It drives me nuts!!! Not only can I literally hear a pin drop on carpet, but I'm sensitive to even the tiniest noise. Regular sounds of the everyday world drive me nuts!!! A motor cycle went by the outdoor cafe where i was sitting today, and I almost dropped my coffee cup!! I also have perfect pitch (can identify musical notes and sounds just by hearing them), and coupled with my super sensitive hearing, this is torture. I cope by going places with my Portable CD player and a pair of headphones, and listening to really calm music, that I can turn up without hurting my head. It's not always volume that gets to me, but sound. Volume does get to me if it's too loud, but there are certain sounds that bug me, regardless of their volume, and when those particular sounds are on high volume it's even worse!! The best I can do to explain my hearing is that it's the audio equivilent of trying to see the road ahead, when the driver behind you has their high-beams on, or trying to see, when driving into a bright light. Also, I have a hard time with sound transitions.... | |
| | Does anyone fall asleep listening to music? | | It started when I was thirteen years old. It was the holidays and my parents were throwing a party that was going to continue into the next day, or so it seemed to me. Seeing as my bedroom at the time was just off the kitchen (where all the drunk relatives sat and talked and laughed LOUDLY) going to sleep seemed near impossible. So I decided to grab my portable CD player and drown them out, hoping to fall asleep in the process. It soon became a nightly thing, and turned into an odd habit (at least to my parents.) Ten years later, I still listen to music to put myself to sleep. I've moved on from my CD player to an Ipod though. And it does not matter what is on. I can fall asleep listening to White Zombie just as easily as I would were I listening to Beethoven. My boyfriend finds it annoying but has to deal with it anyway.Does anyone else do this? | | Thank You Cocteau Twins | | This is my daughters 1st music experience as an hour or so when she was brought by nurses at our hospital room after birth, i played my portable cd player with speakers and listened to cocteau twins while i cherish my baby in my hands for the 1st time.
