Ham Radio or Ametuer Radio
You have heard of it. You probably know that amateur radio operators are also called as "HAM".Every minute of every hour of every day in a year, Radio Amateurs all over the world communicate with each other. It is a way of discovering new friends while experimenting with different and exciting new ways to advance the art of their hobby. It is global fraternity of people with common and yet widely varying interest, able to exchagnge ideas and learn more about each other with each new on-the air contact,Amateur Radio has the ability to enhance international relations as does no other hobby. The two way communication is accomplished is just as interesting as the people you get to meet. Radio Signals can be sent arround the wold using reflective layers of the earth's ionosphere or beamed from pointto point from mountain-tops bny relay station or orbiting satellites that hams built are used to achive communication, some other bounce their signals off the moon, they not only use international Morse code and vice for comminication, but they also use Radioteletype, facsimile and various forms of televison. now a days some hams even have computers hooked up to their Ham equipment.
What activities do you use your ham radio for?
Do you use your Ham Radio just for fun or do you participate in a Public service organization like RACES or ARES? Do you assist in public events such as marathons ans other major events?ed to achive communication, some other bounce their signals off the moon, they not only use international Morse code and vice for comminication, but they also use Radioteletype, facsimile and various forms of televison. now a days some hams even have computers hooked up to their Ham equipment.

What is your call sign? If you don't have one, do you plan to get one?
Ham Radio is a great hobby, in which you can talk to people all over the world, and it's great for disaster aid. If you have a ham radio license, what is your call sign? If you don't have one, do you plan on getting one? Why or why not? My call sign is AC0GW.
What do you think about the FCC dropping the code requirement?
Recently, the FCC dropped the 5 words per minute morse code test requirement for the General and Extra class licenses. Do you think this is a good or bad idea? I found it disappointing that they'd drop it for the extra class test. It's great that people can operate on the HF bands, but I think they should have made it mandatory for the extra. Too bad. However, keep in mind that when nothing else gets out, good ol' cw will. So, what do you think?
Any Shortwave Radio Listeners out there? Can you help me select a goo Receiver?
Hello everyone! This is my first post in this amazing forum and I joined recently, though I had been following this website for quite sometime, but mostly reading a few things here and there.I would really like to ask for some help from you guys. I want to purchase a nice portable Shortwave receiver under 100$ to listen to the[3-30] MHz. frequency band. Hence, I want everyone of you to suggest me the best available options in this regard at present with the help of your experience, within the price range of 50$-100$ but not more and also some links which could let me see the specifications for me to choose the right receiver for myself. I am open to both Indian and foreign models.Secondly, I am located in India. And after a few intense search I came to know that there is not even a decent Short Wave Receiver that is sold here locally. I don't know if I am really correct or not, I would be happy if someone prove me wrong. So, can anyone of you please guide me to a reliable website/dealer to make an Online purchase, either within India or outside? I have no idea of an online purchase from outside of my country, so any help in this regard would be greatly...

Do you wish you had picked a different user name here at myLot?
My user name is derived from my dog's name. Someone answered a discussion with me the other day assuming I was male. I'm not. I hadn't really thought about it before, but my user name gave them that impression. How about you? Do you have problems because of your choice of user name? Do people assume certain things about you? How can you tell?
